CINCINNATI -- A.J. Greens right foot caught the turf as he was tackled on Cincinnatis first pass attempt. He rolled over onto his back and immediately grabbed his right hamstring. And he stayed down.In that moment, the Bengals knew the game -- and their season -- had taken a turn.Green suffered a significant injury to his right hamstring on Sunday and was taken off the field on a cart. Cincinnati couldnt do anything consistently without its big-play receiver during a 16-12 loss to the Buffalo Bills.Sure, Andy Daltons two interceptions played a role. And Mike Nugents two missed extra points left the Bengals (3-6-1) needing a touchdown instead of merely a field goal at the end.But nothing hurt more than the loss of Green, who was third in the league in catches and second in yards receiving.Definitely, missing A.J. was a big piece, and it hurt us a lot, running back Jeremy Hill said.Without Green to challenge deep, a Bills defense known for giving up big plays was able to clamp down.Daltons longest completion was 21 yards to Tyler Eifert. The Bills had given up seven passes of 50 yards or longer, and their secondary was under criticism for its poor play overall. When Green got hurt, the Bills were able to play their comfortable coverages. We had some things for him, cornerback Ronald Darby said. It changed things a lot when he went out.Coach Marvin Lewis had no information about the severity of Greens injury. The durable receiver didnt bend his leg as he was helped to the sideline and taken to a cart, an indication it was serious. The Bengals will have to figure on playing without him for the foreseeable future. You never want to lose a guy like that, Dalton said . Hes the best receiver in the league, so when you lose him it hurts. Some familiar problems returned as well. The Bengals couldnt get their running game going -- a problem all season long. Jeremy Hill had 62 yards, and the Bengals averaged only 3.4 yards per carry while getting 93 overall. Dalton had 10 of the yards.Cincinnati had the ball six times in the second half and managed only five first downs. They went three-and-out on four straight possessions. All season, its been mistake after mistake, Hill said. When they scored touchdowns in the first half, Nugent hit the upright on his two extra-point attempts, his kicks thrown off as he compensated for the wind. Nugent also missed an extra point and a field goal during a 27-27 tie with Washington on Oct. 30 in London. It just drives me crazy to have a poor performance that contributes to a loss, Nugent said. Thats the second time thats happened this year, that Ive contributed enormously to a loss. If I did what I was brought here to do, wed have two less losses, in my opinion.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFLGail Goodrich Jersey . -- Jaye Marie Green shot a 4-under 68 on Thursday to increase her lead to five strokes after the second round of the LPGA Tours qualifying tournament. "Four now," Carl Gunnarsson told the Leaf Report proudly following a 5-2 victory over New York on Tuesday night, the clubs fifth straight at home. https://www.cheapsunsonline.com/999z-walter-davis-jersey-suns.html . Anthony Calvillo, through 20 CFL seasons, was frequently invincible and largely stoic in the heat of competition. But underneath the professional exterior he was, and is, compellingly human. Raja Bell Jersey .C. -- Chris Thorburn thinks one of the reasons the Winnipeg Jets have been successful under new coach Paul Maurice is that theyre playing together as a team. Phoenix Suns Gear . -- New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis is retiring after a 16-year career to become the goalie coach for the Los Angeles Galaxy. CANTON, Ohio -- An emotional and invigorating Hall of Fame weekend came to a grinding halt Sunday night when the Packers-Colts game was canceled because of poor field conditions. One day after Brett Favre led the eight-member class of 2016 into the hall, its president, David Baker announced the cancellation after discussing problems with the turf with both teams. He said it was a safety issue and that all fans would be fully refunded for ticket purchases, which will cost the hall several million dollars. This is a hard decision, but we know it is the right decision, Baker said. In some respects a hard decision because of the impact it has. This is an important game to the people in Canton. The NFL and NFL Players Association said in a statement: We are very disappointed for our fans, but player safety is our primary concern, and as a result, we could not play an NFL game on this field tonight.Baker noted that the field was new and had been approved when inspected after its first installation. But paint congealed at midfield and in the end zone, hardening those areas. Workers used a variety of equipment to smooth the artificial surface. Rubber pellets used in the turf came loose and were scattered in several spots and needed to be removed, as well.We know a lot of you came a long way, Baker told the crowd, which booed when his name was announced. Here at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we have the greatest respect for players and for player safety. As a result of some painting on the field today, some questions arose.Team physicians also were consulted. We thought we would be able to remediate it by delaying the game for as much as an hour, Baker added. But in the end, if its remotely close to unsafe, we conferred with the league, we think the best thing to do is respect the safety of thhe players.dddddddddddd Its the only thing to do.I can tell you, I had a son who played in this league. If it happened with him on the field, I would have wanted someone to make the same decision. This was not the first cancellation of an NFL exhibition game -- the Hall of Game contest was not played in 2011 because of the lockout -- but it was the most high-profile preseason match to be called off.In 2001, a new artificial surface at Philadelphias Veterans Stadium was deemed too dangerous for the Eagles to play the Ravens. Both teams walked onto the field at 8 p.m., moments before the game would have kicked off, and the players saluted the crowd. When the halls class of 2016 was introduced the stands remained relatively full for that. But then many fans departed the stadium even though the halftime show featuring Lee Greenwood was held.Colts coach Chuck Pagano said he was disappointed but understood the cancellation. He was looking to find out about a lot of these young players.Packers coach Mike McCarthy saluted the many Packers fans who came to Canton to see Favre inducted into the hall.We really were looking forward to performing tonight, McCarthy said. You get tired of practicing against yourself and you get to play a real game. Many of the thousands of Packers fans in Canton returned Sunday to Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. They sat watching highlights of Favres speech and of Friday nights concert featuring Tim McGraw before they were told about the games cancellation. Also inducted were Tony Dungy, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, Kevin Greene, Ken Stabler, Dick Stanfel and Ed DeBartolo Jr.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
