Robert Allenby has returned to Australia ready to revive his tour golf career and silence critics after enduring a year from hell - on course and off.Allenby on Wednesday revealed hed contemplated quitting a thousand times while dealing with mental torment of not wanting to be seen in public which precipitated his steep career slide over the past two years. But the 45-year-old says hes finally emerged from the darkest period of his life ready to reclaim full playing rights on the US PGA Tour.Allenby, a 20-year US tour veteran who has earned a tick under $40 million in America, banked just $33,070 in a dismal 2016 season in which he survived just two cuts in 23 events. The alarming decline has left him with only conditional US tour status - and likely a maximum of eight tour events - for 2017.Allenby admits his infamous Hawaii episode in January last year, when he suspected he was drugged at a bar and reported being beaten and robbed when blacked out, precipitated his fall due to the image battering he endured.A local man was later jailed for using Allenbys missing credit cards. That was by far the lowest point. Just the attention that it caused, said Allenby on the eve of teeing up in the NSW Open at Stonecutters Ridge in Sydney..I still stick by my story because detectives and myself know and even today its the same story.People dont even know that the guys in jail for what happened to me in Hawaii.Allenby said a story on the Golf Channel about the Hawaii episode - which he claimed was full or errors - sent him spiralling towards depression. Not to apologise when they were wrong made it pretty tough, he said.Made it that I didnt want to be out of the golf course, didnt want to be seen - didnt want to be seen in public. It really became a very stressful thing for me and thats when the reality of quitting was really high on the list. Its only through my wife Kym and my kids and my family that it just pulled me back.Otherwise I would have gone a year ago. No question.I would have found my own little hole and just stayed in it for the rest of my life.Allenby was also shattered at having people I thought were close friends telling him he should no longer be involved in his own charity - which has earned almost $30 million for children with cancer.I started that when I was 20 and now Im 45, he said.My whole reason why I went into it was because my buddy died when he was 13. We were both the same age.At the end of the day, Ive done a lot more good than bad.I havent killed anyone. I havent taken drugs - apart from being drugged - and I really havent done a lot wrong. Were all humans and humans make mistakes. Whether I made a mistake that was caused by me, I will always own up to it so youve got to live with it too.Hopefully others will live with it too.Allenby, who was involved in a public spat with an Australian caddie after sacking him mid-round last year, described an incident where he was removed from a US casino this year while reportedly intoxicated as just a farce. That was bullsh-t. Got dropped straight away, he said. The only player in history to win Australian golfs Triple crown - the Open, Masters and PGA in the same season - says hes now at peace with himself and the world. While conceding hed love to prove the critics wrong, his chief motivation this summer is to win the Australasian tours Order of Merit to gain exemption into next years British Open and, most importantly, more tournaments in the US. Michael Raffl Jersey .C. - The Carolina Hurricanes have placed backup goalie Anton Khudobin on injured reserve with an unspecified lower-body injury. Bill Barber Jersey . Mickelson barely made the cut but had the best round of the day with nine birdies and an eagle coupled with two bogeys to sit two shots behind leader Craig Lee of Scotland. Lee shot a 69 for a 12-under 204 total. "I just love the fact I am in contention and have an opportunity in my first tournament of the year here in Abu Dhabi," Mickelson said. http://www.nhlflyersproauthentic.com/oskar-lindblom-hockey-jersey/ . At a Manhattan federal court hearing, attorney Jordan Siev said his law office has gotten more evidence nearly every day to support its lawsuit accusing MLB and Selig of going on a "witch hunt" to ruin Rodriguezs reputation and career. He said the defendants went "way over the line. Bobby Clarke Jersey . - Connor McDavid scored 53 seconds into overtime as the Erie Otters came from behind to defeat the visiting Guelph Storm 4-3 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action. Brian Elliott Jersey . Toronto has dropped games to Indiana and Miami since a five-game winning streak and closed out a three-game road trip at 1-2.INVERNESS -- Henrik Stenson kept a resurgent Phil Mickelson at arms length at the Scottish Open by shooting a 6-under 66 to take a two-stroke lead into the final round on Saturday. Mickelson was in a group of four players in a tie for second after making six birdies in his last 11 holes for a 66, leaving the American talking up his improving links game ahead of next weeks British Open. Branden Grace and first-round leader John Parry were in that group with Mickelson after two more 66s, with unheralded Dane J.B. Hansen (69) making up the quartet. Stenson, on 16 under par, has emerged from a prolonged slump and is showing the kind of consistent form that took the Swede to No. 4 in 2009. "I wouldnt say Im far off that," said Stenson, who was as low as No. 230 in the rankings 18 months ago. "The way I played today, that was top-10 (in the world) standard. Its as good as I have hit the ball all season." With the wind only arriving late in the day and the sun again beating down, Castle Stuart was largely defenceless for a third straight round but no player made the kind of hot round that could rip a bunched-up field apart. Chris Doak led overnight on 12 under but the pressure on him to push on and become Scotlands first winner of its national open in 14 years seemed to weigh down on him. He could make only a 1-over 73. As Doak tumbled down the leaderboard, birdies were coming thick and fast elsewhere. Gareth Maybin equalled the weeks lowest round of 64, putting him in a three-way tie for sixth with Raphael Jacquelin (65) and Peter Uihlein (70), who struggled at times in the last group alongside Doak. Accurate off the tee and creative as ever around the greens, Mickelson chose the ideal day to produce his full repertoire of skills. American television was broadcasting a regular European Tour event live for the first time this weekend, with NBC fortunate enough to have two U.S. players -- Mickelson and Uihllein -- in contention.dddddddddddd Uihlein was patchy. Mickelson was anything but. Refusing to get too frustrated after parring his way to No. 8, the four-time major winner delivered a barrage of four birdies in five holes playing into the wind. A delicate chip to within three feet set up another birdie at No. 16 and a 15-foot putt at the last lifted him briefly into the lead and produced one of the biggest cheers of the day. "On the eighth hole, I just tried to slow things down a little bit ... I holed one putt and it ignited the round," said Mickelson, who was watched by his wife and three kids. "The last 11 holes were a lot of fun for me to play." Mickelson is seeking a first individual win in Europe in 20 years, and first ever in Britain. That would prove the ideal way to go into the British Open, one of the two majors he is yet to capture. "I have kept the ball in play as well as I ever have (on links)," added Mickelson, who found 11 of 14 fairways on the undulating course in the Scottish Highlands. Stenson has been under par in 24 of his 31 rounds this year but hasnt managed a tournament win since capturing the SA Open Championship in Johannesburg in November. The biggest victory of his career came at the Players Championship at Sawgrass in 2009 and a year later he placed third at the British Open. It has been a tale of woe since then but he is on the way back, partly due to his improved mental approach. "I have put down some long-term goals for my game," the 37-year-old Stenson said. "I feel like Im playing golf with a little more ease and if its not happening today, it will happen tomorrow or the day after. "Its a little bit less stressful in that sense." Matteo Manassero made the tournaments first hole-in-one -- acing No. 8 from 216 yards with a 3-iron hybrid -- but the BMW PGA Championship winner is nine shots off the pace after his 70. ' ' '
